The Velabrum is the valley between the Capitoline Hill and the Palatine Hill, connecting the Forum Boarium and the Forum Romanum.
In Antiquity the Velabrum was a very imporant part of town, situated between the major centres of power and commerce. Now it is a rather isolated and deserted corner.
Under the Velabrum runs the Cloaca Maxima, and it is the site of the Arch of Janus, the Arco degli argentari and the church San Giorgio in Velabro.
