The Capitoline Hill is one of the seven hills of Rome.
In antiquity it was the centre of religious life in Rome and the site of several very important sactuaries and temples. See Capitolium.
Today the Capitoline Hill is the centre of the municipal government of Rome, which is housed in renaissance palaces. The site is an important monument to renaissance art and architecture. See Campidoglio.
