Titus Flavius Vespasianus (39-81 CE) was the second emperor of the Flavian dynasty. He was the oldest son of Vespasian, whom he succeeded in 79.
Titus was an able general and had a major role in the defeat of the Jewish rebellion of 66-70 and the sacking of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Jewish temple in 70. This feat is commemorated by the Arch of Titus at the entrance to the Forum Romanum in Rome.
Titus was succeeded by his brother Domitian.
