The Horrea Agrippiana was a granary and a grain and food market, built by Marcus Agrippa. It is located on the Vicus Tuscus, behind the Annex of Tiberius’ Palace.
The complex is centred around three courtyards, each surrounded by two storeys of rooms that have served as shops or storage. Each courtyard had a flat wooden roof supported by brick columns. The middle courtyard housed an altar for the protecting deity of the horrea and a fountain. In front of the building was a travertine portico on the Vicus Tuscus.
In the middle ages houses were built in the courtyards, changing the appearance of the area.
