Silvanus was the god of uncultivated land, forests, hunting and other aspects of wild nature. He was often identified with the Greek god Silenus, and sometimes with Pan or the Satyrs.
Silvanus was not a part of the official Roman religion, but he was worshipped privately throughout Italy. His cult appears to have been very popular.
